At Flying Chalks, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. It’s about immersing oneself in new environments, gaining global perspectives, and making informed choices for the future. This July, we had the pleasure of hosting a few Indonesian families for our Education Planning & Campus Tour Program. The day was thoughtfully designed to showcase the diversity and excellence of Singapore’s education system, while offering meaningful insights into academic pathways for international students aiming to study in Singapore.

Visit Australia International Schools (AIS)

Our journey began with a visit to the Australian International School (AIS), one of Singapore’s most respected international schools. Established in 1993, AIS is home to over 2,500 students from more than 50 nationalities. The families were warmly welcomed and given a tour of the campus, where they learned about the school’s unique blend of the Australian and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula. The school’s commitment to academic excellence was evident in its impressive average IBDP score of 33.3, well above the global average of 29.2. Parents and students alike were inspired by the school’s inclusive learning environment and its emphasis on holistic development.

Singapore Education System Sharing & Personalised Education Planning Session

Following the school visit, we gathered for a sharing session on Singapore's education system. This segment provided valuable insights into the differences between public and private universities, their program offerings, and respective entry requirements. Families were guided through the various study pathways available, with practical advice on how to improve admission success. The session sparked thoughtful discussions, helping parents better understand the academic landscape and opportunities in Singapore.

In addition, we also provided each family with a Personalized Education Planning Session. This session offered one-on-one guidance tailored to each student’s goals, current education level, and interests. It was a meaningful moment for families to reflect on what they had learned throughout the day and envision how different options might align with their child’s aspirations.

Singapore Management University (SMU) Campus Tour

After a refreshing lunch break, the family continued the journey with a campus tour of the Singapore Management University (SMU). Located in the heart of the city, SMU stands out for its American-style seminar-based teaching and its strengths in business, law, social sciences, and computing. Established in 2000, SMU has built a strong reputation for innovation and global connectivity, offering exchange programs with over 200 universities worldwide. The families were impressed by the university’s dynamic learning environment and its emphasis on real-world application.

National University of Singapore (NUS)

To conclude the day, we visited the National University of Singapore (NUS). As Singapore’s oldest and most prestigious university, NUS has a rich history dating back to 1905. Ranked 8th in the world and 1st in Asia in the QS World University Rankings 2026, NUS represents the pinnacle of academic excellence in the region. The families were able to appreciate the university’s global stature and its commitment to research and innovation.
